About The Position

SJS Executives is seeking experienced Gardeners for a possible upcoming contract in Montgomery and Tuskegee, Alabama supporting ongoing maintenance operations at two federal medical facilities. SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

Requirements

In accordance with federal regulations, possession of a valid Real ID is a requirement for this position.
Minimum of 3 years of grounds maintenance, landscaping, or gardening experience.
Experience operating landscaping equipment including blowers, push mowers, weed trimmers, and hedge trimmers.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including temperatures exceeding 100°F.
Ability to work on ladders, at heights, and in confined spaces when required.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
Ability to work in noisy environments while wearing appropriate hearing protection.
Ability to work safely around dust, dirt, machinery, chemicals, oils, fumes, and other occupational hazards.
Ability to wear an OSHA-approved respirator when required and successfully complete required fit testing.
Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including steel-toe boots, eye protection, hearing protection, and approved face protection.
Ability to comply with all applicable federal safety regulations and workplace policies.
Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.

OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Maintain landscaped areas, lawns, and exterior grounds at federal facilities.
Use blowers to clean parking lots, sidewalks, entrances, and other exterior areas.
Collect and dispose of trash from outdoor receptacles.
Perform weed trimming and vegetation control as needed.
Install pine straw, mulch, and prepare flower beds for seasonal planting and maintenance.
Remove leaves and debris from sidewalks, roadways, lawns, and other exterior surfaces.
Mow grass using push lawn mowers and other landscaping equipment.
Trim hedges, shrubs, and other ornamental landscaping to maintain a professional appearance.
Operate landscaping tools and equipment safely while following established safety procedures.
