About The Position

Work both independently and as a team leader providing timely reliable support in the care and maintenance of athletic fields and college owned property. Perform a variety of grounds keeping functions involved in the preservation and care of grounds, walks, drives and parking areas; provide technical guidance in those areas.

Requirements

• HS/GED.
• Minimum of 3- 5 years horticulture/grounds experience.
• Valid N. C. Drivers License
• Valid N. C. Pesticide Applications License

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree in Horticultural and related field
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance techniques
• good communications skills
• basic computer skills
• ability to work from architectural plans and drawings common to trade.

Responsibilities

• To maintain the health and appearance of the college landscape and gardens.
• Primary responsibilities include pruning, planting and maintaining woody, herbaceous and annual plant materials, landscape construction, weed control, fertilizing, seeding and other duties as assigned.
• Perform landscape installation, operate and maintain horticultural equipment
• Assist Grounds Director in proper training of new groundskeepers; inspect work assignments of immediate crew for quality control and completion of tasks; promptly report accidents on the job, preparing and submitting accident reports.
