About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and care of school grounds and athletic fields. The Gardener I will operate and maintain landscaping equipment, perform manual labor, and ensure the grounds are safe and presentable. This role requires knowledge of horticultural practices, irrigation systems, and pest control. The employee will work under the supervision of a Landscape Supervisor and may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
One (1) year of experience in landscaping or grounds maintenance.
Valid Nevada Driver's License.
Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment.
Knowledge of horticultural practices, irrigation systems, and pest control.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

Pesticide applicator license.
Experience with athletic field maintenance.
Knowledge of native Nevada plants.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, and edgers.
Perform manual labor, including planting, weeding, mulching, and pruning trees and shrubs.
Water lawns, trees, and shrubs using manual or automatic irrigation systems.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides as needed, following safety guidelines.
Maintain athletic fields, including marking lines, repairing turf, and ensuring safety standards.
Clean and maintain grounds, including picking up litter and debris.
Assist with the installation of new landscaping features.
Respond to emergency situations related to grounds maintenance.
Follow all safety procedures and regulations.
