About The Position

Harborview Medical Center is hiring a Gardener 2 to join its skilled trades and facilities team. The position supports campus grounds maintenance and plant care, with responsibilities including weed management, irrigation system upkeep, waste handling, hard-surface cleaning, seasonal snow and ice removal, pruning, planting, and operating landscaping equipment. The role is full-time, 100% FTE, Monday through Friday, and has no telework. It is a regular position on the first shift.

Requirements

Physical ability to perform the required work.
One year of experience or training involving grounds maintenance, plant care, cultivation, and landscape installation.
May require a valid State of Washington driver’s license.
Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements, such as a license, certification, or registration, apply.

Responsibilities

Maintain plants and manage weeds, including invasive and noxious weeds, using Integrated Pest Management strategies and practices, including hand and mechanical removal.
Operate, maintain, and repair irrigation systems, including manual watering equipment and automatic irrigation clocks and systems; troubleshoot as needed.
Manage campus waste, including trash, recycling, pallets, and other waste.
Clean hard-surface areas, including litter pickup, biohazard and graffiti removal, pressure washing, and snow and ice removal as required during winter months.
Prune trees, shrubs, vines, and perennials for health, clearance, and form using horticultural best practices.
Plant and transplant shrubs, trees, perennials, and annuals.
Use hand and power implements and tools and commercial power equipment; operate power and motorized equipment.
