About The Position

The Garden Grounds Student Worker serves as a hands-on garden maintenance worker and caretaker. The position helps ensure that Asbury Seminary’s community garden is well cared for and inviting to community members and visitors, and assists with garden events and seasonal needs. The worker supports the growth and development of the seminary community in the garden.

Requirements

• Must be a current student of Asbury Theological Seminary.
• Able and willing to work 20 hours weekly.
• Willing to work outdoors in summer heat and winter cold.
• Able to push or carry heavy loads.
• Committed to the mission statements of Asbury Seminary and the community garden.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in farming or gardening.

• Flexibility of schedule and approach.

Responsibilities

• Oversee greenhouse operations, including opening and closing the greenhouse, weeding and watering greenhouse plots, and maintaining greenhouse needs and structures.
• Care for garden plots by weeding and watering community garden plots, watering and trimming garden fruit trees, and maintaining Kentucky native plots.
• Care for paths and the fire pit by spraying and weeding gravel areas.
• Mow the garden lawn.
• Assist with garden events and seasonal needs.
• Perform other duties as specified.
