About The Position
The Desert Oasis Teaching Garden at Albuquerque Academy is an experiential garden demonstrating soil health, water conservation, and climate adaptability in the desert Southwest using regenerative agricultural practices. We provide experiential learning opportunities for students at Albuquerque Academy as well as produce for the dining halls and community donations. POSITION SUMMARY: ● Assist with general maintenance of the garden, outlying landscaped spaces, tools and supplies ● Perform some office functions as necessary
Requirements
- High School diploma
- Experience working outdoors and in various weather conditions (heat, cold, wind, precipitation, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal & problem-solving skills
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Ability to work independently and successfully complete tasks in a timely manner without direct supervision
- MUST have a Work-Study Award
Nice To Haves
- Experience working in a garden or farm preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with maintenance of garden and landscaped spaces (includes weeding, planting, harvesting, use of power tools)
- Clean and maintain tools and supplies
- Set up and clean up for classroom teaching and other events
- Performs other duties as assigned
