Waste Services Garbage Truck Helper
About The Position
Interstate Waste Services (IWS) is seeking Garbage Truck-Collection Helpers in Bernardsville, NJ. This role offers a starting pay of $18.54/hr and a potential pathway to a commercial driver role through a Helper to CDL Driver training program after one year of service. The position involves steady, year-round work from Monday to Friday, with an early start time of 5:00 am to 3:30 pm. IWS is a leading provider of solid waste and recycling services in the country, serving Northern New Jersey, Southern New York State, New York City, and expanding into Pennsylvania and Ohio. The company's mission is to provide high-quality waste, recycling, and environmental services with a focus on safety for employees, customers, and the environment.
Requirements
- Must meet specified physical standards.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Team-player attitude.
- History of steady employment.
- History of showing up and being on-time for work every day.
Nice To Haves
- Experience from the sanitation industry is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect (primarily by hand) and load refuse from customer locations into a heavy-duty sanitation vehicle.
- Transfer refuse in a timely and safe manner from customer stops to vehicle.
- Assist the driver while maneuvering into positions for collection and disposal.
- Maintain and partake in daily clean-up of vehicle.
- Learn garbage routes to better assist driver.
- Attend all required training, operational meetings, and mandatory monthly Safety Meetings.
