Garage Door Technician
About The Position
Joe Wilde Company is hiring a Garage Door Technician to install garage doors and related components while representing the company to residential customers. The role involves checking installations for quality and providing courteous, truthful responses to customer questions. Technicians also help customers who need parts and monitor inventories of materials and supplies. Additional opportunities are available to cross-train in garage door service and troubleshooting, installation of railings, columns, awnings, and other shade solutions, commercial overhead door work, and commercial automatic pedestrian doors. The company provides training, support, and tools, and offers a pathway to becoming a Certified Door Systems Technician through the Institute of Door Dealer Education and Accreditation.
Requirements
- One or more years of experience installing and/or servicing garage doors, or experience in similar mechanical, electrical, construction, or field-service work.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to regularly lift 50–100 lbs and comfort working at moderate heights on step-ladders.
- Willingness and ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and motor vehicle record check.
Responsibilities
- Install garage doors, openers, springs, cables, and other hardware.
- Check installations for proper installation, clearance, and balance.
- Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer questions in a truthful and pleasant manner.
- Conduct regular spot checks of inventory, including materials and supplies, and ensure an adequate supply is available.
- Assist residential customers who require parts.
- Potentially cross-train in garage door servicing and troubleshooting, installation of railings, columns, awnings, and other shade solutions, commercial overhead door work, and commercial automatic pedestrian doors.
