About The Position

This role blends mechanical aptitude with sales or consultative experience to provide comprehensive garage door services. The Garage Door Sales & Technician will diagnose and fix technical issues on residential and commercial garage doors, handle installations, maintenance, and repairs to high standards. The position also involves engaging with customers to understand their needs, explain solutions, offer options, and recommend the best products or services. Accurate record-keeping, collaboration with the team, and upholding safety rules are also key aspects of the role. This includes ladder work, lifting up to 75+ lbs, and tool handling.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of sales experience (outside/inside or consultative) — able to close, negotiate, explain value.
  • Comfortable with mechanical work or technical troubleshooting. Previous exposure to installation or repair work a big plus.
  • Physical readiness: lifting, climbing ladders, working with tools, being hands‐on.
  • Strong communication skills: clear, professional, patient, able to adapt to different customers.
  • Organized, able to juggle tasks, time manage well.
  • Basic education: high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean motor vehicle record.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous exposure to installation or repair work a big plus.
  • Additional credentials (relevant trade, certifications) are helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and fix technical issues on residential & commercial garage doors (springs, cables, openers, panels, commercial doors, etc.)
  • Handle installations, maintenance (we use detailed inspections like 24‐point safety checks) and repairs to high standards.
  • Engage with customers: understand their needs, explain solutions, offer options, and help them pick the best door/opening system or component for their home or business.
  • Upsell and recommend premium or additional services/products when it adds real value.
  • Keep accurate records: what you did, why, photos/notes, so quality and safety are maintained and follow‐ups run smoothly.
  • Collaborate with your team for scheduling, coordinating larger installs, or emergencies.
  • Uphold all safety rules and best practices. Ladder work, lifting up to 75+ lbs, tool handling are part of the work.
