About The Position

The Temporary Galleries Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day operations of the Gallery of Iconic Guitars and the Frederick Hart Studio Museum, including visitor services, administrative duties, data management, and special events as assigned. This position has three essential functions: operating the galleries at the Lila D. Bunch Library, providing oversight for student docents, and assisting with special projects and events as assigned. The successful candidate will have a strong customer service ethic; a team-orientated work style; and well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to work independently to organize and prioritize multiple assignments is critical to this position as is thoroughness and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • Good customer service and professional communication skills/phone etiquette
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to assist others
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel PowerPoint and other internet-based programs
  • Must be reliable, self-directed, trustworthy, and responsible
  • Observant and constantly aware of surroundings, with good judgment and critical thinking skills
  • Weekends are sometimes required as well as some Holidays
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to respond to high-pressure situations
  • Ability to thrive in an environment of hard work
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years of experience in customer service, front desk operations, visitor services, hospitality, administrative support, or a related public-facing environment
  • Experience working independently and managing multiple responsibilities with attention to detail
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Museum Studies, Art History, Library Science, Arts Administration, Hospitality, Communications, Education, or a related field
  • Experience working in a museum, gallery, library, cultural institution, university, or similar environment
  • Experience supervising, training, or coordinating student employees, volunteers, docents, or other part-time staff
  • Experience with ticketing, admissions, visitor management, events, or public programs
  • Experience handling sensitive collections, exhibits, facilities, or security-related procedures
