About The Position

Gallery Guards ensure the safety and security of Institute visitors, staff, faculty, students, art collection and museum buildings by protecting against theft, vandalism, and fire. Munson Gallery Guards respond to visitor/employee needs and inquiries in a professional and courteous manner and respond quickly with professional judgement in emergencies. The Museum of Art is open to the public Tuesdays through Saturdays, Sunday afternoons, with additional open hours for evening or special events, or exhibition hours.

Requirements

NYS Guard license is required.
Excellent interpersonal skills required.
Ability to operate two-way radio.
Effectively communicate with Museum of Art visitors and employees.
Computer skills that include the ability to send/receive e-mail messages and prepare and submit required reports.
Working knowledge/use of computer, telephone system, security equipment required.
Requires frequent standing, sitting, walking.
Must possess the ability to exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, and up to 5 lbs. of force frequently.
Day time shifts.
36.5 hours per week (Bi-weekly pay)
Usually two Sundays per month (required).
NY State Guard License (Required)
Must complete a post-offer, pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience and familiarity with security equipment preferred.
AAS degree in criminal justice.
Previous security or law enforcement experience preferred.
5 years or more of verifiable security-related experience in law enforcement, military, or a security field.
