About The Position

The Gallery Director is responsible for the daily operations and programming of the gallery at the Vogt Visual Arts Center (VVAC). This position coordinates monthly and annual art exhibitions and receptions, including artwork acquisition, installation, removal, and return; schedules and supervises Gallery Attendants; manages consignment and artwork sales; and assists patrons, instructors, and visitors. The Gallery Director also supports VVAC special events and rentals, maintains relationships with local artists, collectors, businesses, and community partners, and serves as a liaison between gallery staff, instructors, and the Park District. The position requires flexibility to install exhibitions during off-hours and the ability to maintain an organized, welcoming, and professional gallery environment.

Requirements

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience working with art-related programs, exhibitions, or activities.
Current CPR certification or ability to gain CPR certification within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

An Associate’s Degree in Art or a related field is preferred.
