About The Position

The Gage Technician II is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on production measurement equipment. This role involves working from mechanical schematics, sketches, manuals, specifications, and instructions to perform mechanical tasks. The technician will work from work orders with minimal direction, handle emergency calls, and support Stellantis Production Way (SPW) cross-functional teams in maintenance-related problem-solving and daily activities. Key objectives include maintaining and improving gage uptime, supporting major gage or equipment modifications, and providing maintenance support for gage and process activities on production lines. The role also involves supporting SPW in updating and maintaining control of gage drawings and Work Instruction Sheets for PM and maintenance activities, as well as participating in the preparation of technical details and instructions for planned maintenance and TPM activities. The technician will also participate in creating procedures, ensuring conformance to ISO 9000, facilitating communication between departments, and identifying spare parts. Additionally, the role includes participating in supplier pre-launch activities such as gage R&R's and correlation studies.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Journeyman toolmaker or 5 plus years in gage manufacturing business preferably in the auto industry.
Basic computer skills.
Strong mechanical background.
Equipment troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

Performing preventative and corrective maintenance to production measurement equipment.
Working from mechanical schematics, sketches, manuals, specifications, and written and oral instructions.
Performing mechanical tasks as required.
Working directly from work orders under minimal direction.
Handling emergency work order calls.
Supporting Stellantis Production Way (SPW) cross functional teams in maintenance related Problem-Solving Process, and daily activities.
Maintaining and improving gage up-time.
Supporting major gage or equipment modifications.
Providing all required maintenance support for gage and process activities in the production lines.
Supporting SPW in updating & maintaining control of all gage drawings, Work Instructions Sheets for key PM and maintenance related activities.
Participating in preparing technical detail and instructions for planned maintenance (preventative, predictive, planned corrective) and TPM activities with SPW's Technical Support, Specialists and the cross functional team.
Participating in creating procedures and ensuring the conformance of procedures and processes (ISO 9000).
Facilitating communication between departments, lines and internal suppliers.
Being a proactive participant in the identification of spare parts.
Participating in the hiring process for new team members as requested.
Participating in supplier pre-launch activities to support SPW by assisting with gage R&R’s, correlation studies and de-bug.
Conducting routine audits & verifications to confirm the completion of written / documented maintenance activities to confirm SPW’s quality system is implemented and functioning according to plan and in the case of non-conformance or system failure re-establish ideal conditions or make improvements.
Coordinating with SPW production the availability of production gages for planned maintenance (preventative, predictive, planned corrective).
Creating, updating and approving Standard Work Instruction Sheets to ensure the standardization and safe performance of maintenance activities.
Arriving on the job, ready to work every day according to the work plan and schedule.

Ensuring delivery of gage maintenance services using root cause analyses, continuous improvement, and problem-solving activities through data driven scientific methods with SPW’s cross functional teams in all facilities service-related areas.
Measuring and ensuring the department performance to SPW’s SQDCM goals.
Participating in the development of a Lean Maintenance Operating System and SPW Quality System as requested.
Participating with plant personnel in supplier equipment “buy-off” activities as required.
Providing onsite services in accordance with the procedures and policies as outlined in the SPW Quality System.
Escalating issues and problems up to your Team Leader when appropriate.
Actively driving out waste from all gage management activities through the use of the SPW lean manufacturing production system.
Being a student and teacher of the SPW lean manufacturing production system.
Providing services using most economical approach available.
Supporting and advocating the lean production system, to eliminate waste.
Creating a work environment in all service areas which supports SPW’s lean manufacturing culture and positive employee morale.
Maintaining the team morale and promoting activities for team building.
Ensuring all work performed comply with environmental regulations within the SPW facility.
