About The Position

Join the Columbus Forge team as a Gage Standards Technician, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of precision measurement equipment used in aerospace manufacturing. The role performs complex gage calibrations, dimensional evaluations, and inspections with advanced measurement tools and techniques to maintain exacting quality standards. This is an onsite, first-shift position, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The technician supports aerospace manufacturing operations by evaluating gages, parts, tools, and fixtures and collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, and Metrology teams. The role provides opportunities to learn advanced aerospace metrology and calibration techniques, evaluate complex gages and fixtures, interpret engineering drawings, and apply precision measurement principles to tight manufacturing tolerances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • At least 1 year of relevant or related manufacturing, quality, inspection, calibration, or metrology experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in gage calibration, gage standards, metrology, dimensional inspection, or quality assurance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience reading complex engineering drawings and using precision measurement equipment, including micrometers, calipers, indicators, and CMMs.
  • Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or similar systems.
  • Strong understanding of geometry, algebra, and trigonometry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform layout evaluations and dimensional inspections of gages, parts, tools, and fixtures to verify conformance with engineering drawings, specifications, and tight tolerances.
  • Calibrate and evaluate precision measurement equipment, from basic hand tools to complex, part-specific gages.
  • Interpret complex blueprints and apply algebra, geometry, and trigonometry to conduct accurate dimensional evaluations.
  • Operate precision measurement equipment, including sine plates, angle plates, gauge blocks (Jo blocks), height stands, Cadillac gages, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs).
  • Research and resolve measurement-related requests.
  • Maintain accurate calibration and inspection records.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, and Metrology teams to support production requirements.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage.
