Western State Hospital is seeking a full time GAC - Program Coordinator to provide consultative, administrative, and supportive services to promote the clinical effort and administrative needs of Western State Hospital’s forensic services. Key Responsibilities: - Using specialized knowledge of DBHDS policies and procedures, Virginia statutes, and state guidelines, provide information, guidance and consultation on forensic issues to treatment teams, forensic evaluators, Admission Office, courts, sheriff’s offices, defense attorneys, and outside agencies to optimize the delivery, efficiency, and performance of forensic services - Identify problems and works toward resolution with supervisor and other personnel - Review relevant court orders/warrants for potential admissions for Admissions Office, notifying and advising Admissions Office of the legal code, number of days and charges - After forensic patient is admitted, review court orders/face sheets for proper coding and refer errors for correction to appropriate persons - Maintain accurate and current records in electronic (FIMS Database) and manual filing systems for forensic and NGRI patients - Generate monthly statistical and quarterly reports for Central Office, monthly report for Census Management meeting, monthly reports for Psychology Director, and bi-weekly reports for hospital-wide HOTTs, psychologists and social workers - Instruct and consult with treatment teams regarding pending hearings for NGRI acquittees and, if NGRI waives right to attend hearing, fax Waiver to court, CWA, defense attorney and Central Office - Advise relevant treatment team regarding victim notification when indicated, coordinate with Central Office and initiate victim notification letter on NGRI acquittees who have an Annual Hearing scheduled and/or receive a community level privilege - Provide forensic administrative guidance to treatment teams for discharge planning for forensic patients
