About The Position

This Graduate Assistantship position provides instructional support for the Academic Coaching Program in Naropa College. There are six roles available for this position. These positions start in the Fall 2026 semester.

Requirements

  • All job candidates must demonstrate an appropriate level of understanding of and appreciation for the values of Naropa University and the capacity to demonstrate an integration and embodiment of these values as evidenced in work, communication, collaboration styles, and other general workplace behaviors.
  • Graduate School of Counseling Psychology students.
  • Previous training in the following areas: learning disabilities, multilingual speakers, adaptive technology, diversity awareness, and contemplative education.
  • Statement of Interest: In 1–2 pages explain why you want to be an Academic Coach. Discuss how this position will support your professional development and career plans. Detail the strengths you would bring to the Academic Coaching Program that might broaden or support the work we do, including but not limited to your experiences teaching and/or tutoring. Discuss what aspects of this position you anticipate might be challenging for you.
  • Reading academic texts and materials, student papers, etc.
  • Operating personal computer and audio-visual equipment.
  • Standing or sitting for hours at a time.
  • Moving around campus for classes and meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual and group Academic Coaching to students focused on the development and refinement of academic skills (e.g. time management, organization skills, study skills, reading and comprehension skills, presentation skills, basic technology literacy skills, etc.).
  • Designs and delivers workshops and in-service presentations on relevant Academic Coaching topics, including potential classroom visits.
  • Actively outreaches students who may need academic support.
  • Collaborates with Faculty and Academic Advisors to support student success.
  • Maintains thorough and timely notes and assessment records.
  • Aids with the day-to-day functioning of the Academic Coaching Program.
  • Identifies new resources and create handouts for the Program.
  • Attends the Academic Coaching Program GA Orientation: one full-day training that occurs during the week preceding the start of the Fall 2026 semester (date TBA).
  • Attends mandatory monthly team meetings during the academic school year.
  • Attends individual supervision sessions each semester, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
