About The Position

This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) student labor position which requires heavy, physical and/or manual labor and includes inspections and maintenance duties. The UCO Emergency Management Unit is part of the Department of Public Safety (DPS). UCO DPS is tasked with the safety and security of the UCO main campus and its affiliated campuses.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled at least half-time (6 hours for undergraduates, 5 hours for graduates) for Fall/Spring Semesters.
• F1/J1 Visa students must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours for undergraduates, 9 credit hours for graduates).
• For Summer Semester, students must be enrolled in at least 3 summer credit hours or be enrolled in the upcoming fall semester.
• For Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) positions, students must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours (undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (graduate).
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Dependable.
• Punctual.

Nice To Haves

• Students must be awarded work study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships.
• Summer FWSP award is a separate application process.

Responsibilities

• Conducting fire extinguisher inspections
• AED inspections
• Assisting the Fire/Life Safety Technician with troubleshooting and repairing of the campus fire alarm system
• Inspecting and replacing campus fire extinguishers as needed
• Assisting the Director of Emergency Management with other projects
