About The Position

This is a Federal Work-Study (FWS) position, which provides funds that students earn through part-time employment to help pay for educational expenses. FWS can be on-campus or off-campus. On-campus employment is typically with the school, while off-campus employment is usually with a private non-profit organization or public agency, and the work must be in the public interest. Some positions may have agreements with private, for-profit employers, and the job must be relevant to the student's course of study. Typical roles include office assistants, assistant technicians, lab assistants, and aides to instructors/deans or athletic assistants. Students must be mature, responsible, organized, and detail-oriented.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate student awarded federal work study funds in financial aid package.
  • Must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards set by Dallas College.
  • Must be enrolled and certified in at least six hours (half time) for Fall and Spring.
  • If attending Summer semesters, must be enrolled in at least three hours (quarter time).
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
  • Must not have any prior institutional balance or blocks.
  • Student must have transportation to off-campus worksites.
  • Will be subject to a criminal background check.
  • Some positions may be subject to a fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance in the Learning Commons.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Complete required Dallas College professional development training hours.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
