About The Position

This is a workforce development program designed to prepare candidates for careers. One day per week will be dedicated to classroom training in soft skills, while the remaining four days will involve participation in the neighborhood beautification program. Work assignments may vary and include outdoor tasks in various climate and temperature extremes. The primary focus will be assisting with neighborhood beautification tasks throughout the City to improve its cleanliness. These projects require strenuous physical activity in challenging environments, including frequent lifting and carrying of 30-40 lbs, and potentially using a jackhammer weighing up to 90 lbs. Upon successful completion of the program, employees will have the opportunity to be hired in a full-time civil service capacity.

Responsibilities

• Neighborhood beautification
• Cleaning illegal trash dumping sites throughout the City
• Cleaning alleyways throughout the City
• Assisting with neighborhood beautification tasks throughout the City to make Philadelphia a cleaner place to live and work
• Receiving training in soft skills
