2027 Future Talent Program – Modeling & Informatics - Intern

Merck•Boston, MA
•$39,908 - $111,111

About The Position

The Future Talent Program offers internships lasting up to 12 weeks and including one or more projects. This Research and Development Division opportunity provides development experience and an opportunity to explore whether the company aligns with the intern’s long-term goals. The paid internship is targeted to start in June 2027 and run for 10–12 weeks. The Modeling & Informatics department is offering placements in Rahway, New Jersey; Boston, Massachusetts; West Point, Pennsylvania; and South San Francisco, California. The intern will participate in molecular modeling and/or cheminformatics research, either on an independent project or as part of a drug discovery team. Research may involve cheminformatics approaches such as chemigenomic data analysis, chemical reaction modeling, chemical databases, or data management, and molecular modeling approaches such as docking, molecular dynamics, protein design, small-molecule design, peptide design, quantum chemical calculations, and machine learning. The intern will learn to use data, models, and methods to drive hypothesis-driven drug discovery and will be exposed to research relevant to drug discovery and development. Potential involvement in a scientific publication may result from the research undertaken. Candidates must be pursuing a related BS/BA, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree and demonstrate interest or experience in research relevant to drug discovery. They must have completed at least two years of BS/BA studies or at least one year of Master’s/Ph.D. studies by the start date, be enrolled in an academic program when applying, and continue their education for at least one semester after the internship ends. Applicants selected for an interview must be prepared to submit letters of recommendation, a brief research statement, and a transcript. Applicants must select a location when applying if multiple locations are listed. The role is an intern/co-op fixed-term position, with no relocation, visa sponsorship, or travel required. The shift is first shift (day).
