About The Position

The Future Talent Program features internships that last up to 12 weeks and will include one or more projects. These opportunities in our Global Support Functions Division can provide you with great development and a chance to see if we are the right company for your long-term goals. The Global Safety & Environment Intern will support Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives by providing compliance and technical assistance to global business partners. This role will focus on advancing Biosafety Center of Excellence (COE) programs, including the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of biosafety standards across global operations.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in public health, Safety, Environmental Science, Biology, Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, or a similar technical field.
  • Completed at least two years of college coursework.
  • Able to work full time for 10 to 12 weeks.
  • Strong critical thinking skills to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.
  • Basic project management skills.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint to organize data and present findings.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Comfortable working independently and engaging with diverse teams and roles.
  • Able to receive, interpret, and act on verbal and written guidance.
  • Experience researching scientific literature using internet or technical article databases.

Nice To Haves

  • Some knowledge of biosafety, public health, or EHS.
  • Experience with video editing or visual communication tools.
  • Prior internship or work experience in biosafety, public health, EHS, or biological sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Support database migration, data editing, and digital tracking activities.
  • Help streamline and enhance biosafety programs, including change management and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with Biosafety Officers and Subject Matter Experts on protocol reviews, training materials, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Track biosafety-related events, identify trends, and help analyze root causes to support preventive strategies and communicate insights that support decision-making.
  • Maintain and update biosafety manuals, guidelines, and web content for accuracy and accessibility.
  • Explore and share successful practices from global sites to support the evolution of the EHS program.
  • Provide project support for biosafety change management initiatives.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of global biosafety program which ensure safe practices globally.
