About The Position

The purpose of this job is to lead district efforts in the implementation of Future Ready Institutes at the school level. FRI School-Based Leads are expected to provide leadership, coordination, and support for the Future Ready Institutes located within their assigned building through work with business/community partners, District Future Ready Institute team, Office of Teaching & Learning, and school based administration. The FRI School-Based Lead position is designed to provide support for FRI teachers in the classroom, as well as creating connections between the FRI classroom to the Chattanooga business community. FRI School-Based Leads work with teachers to increase engagement, community members to solidify partnerships and opportunities for students, and school administration to ensure fidelity in the institutes’ implementation. Effective professional learning is job-embedded within a safe, positive environment and built through trusting relationships. An effective FRI School-Based Lead works collaboratively with teachers, principals, and directors to support the school and its Future Ready Institute objectives. An effective FRI School-Based Lead serves as a positive role model and “thought partner” in a non-evaluative, non-supervisory role to better support teachers to meet the needs of their students in challenging and supportive classroom environments.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with certification as specified by state and federal standards for the teaching position held.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of successful secondary education experience
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with students, educators, parents, and community members.
  • Deep understanding of best practices for teaching as it relates to interdisciplinary engagement
  • Familiar with the NCAC National Standards of Practice

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience in facilitating professional learning is preferred
  • Previous experience working with a Future Ready Institute is preferred
  • Experience in leading educators in professional development and/or coaching is preferred

Responsibilities

  • FRI School-Based Leads, supports and mentors FRI CTE and Cores teachers in interdisciplinary engagement.
  • Develops and maintains advisory boards for each institute and plans four (4) meetings per year; provides a yearly planning calendar during opening week of school for the entire year
  • Visits business partners’ place of business in the summer
  • Assists institute teachers with the coordination of work based learning experiences, site evaluations, and support and student placements
  • Attends a District FRI School-Based Leads meetings one (1) day a month and all assigned trainings/meetings as designated by the Director of Future Ready Students
  • Serves as the liaison between the District and the school to ensure consistent communication to all institutes
  • Attends trainings for various “administrative ” type roles to include master scheduling, strategic plans, etc. to be prepared to assist administrators with logistic that affect the FRI implementation
  • Attends all partnership councils/collaborative meetings that relate to designated school’s career institutes
  • Attends all institute team meetings to monitor highly effective interdisciplinary teaming
  • Coordinates and ensures participation of experiential learning for all institutes, including but not limited to career fairs, college visits, guest speakers, industry related field trips, job shadows, and internships
  • Promotes and supports the work of each institute to align with National Career Academy Coalition (NCAC) accreditation status, working towards model status
  • Works with institute team leaders on budgeting, equipment needs, year-end reports, student data, and calendar of events
  • Coordinates and monitors teacher externships, PBL training, interdisciplinary training, or other trainings as needed
  • Works with institute teams to implement institute showcases, school tours, and recruitment events
  • Oversees all aspects of the Student Ambassador program (i.e. student selection, District training, and ambassador events)
  • Serves on the school leadership team and works closely with guidance counselors and administrative team to ensure master scheduling aligns to pathway completers
  • Spends 95% of time working on Future Ready Institute specific activities
  • Works to expand and elevate the industry certification enrollment and successful completion
  • Assists in the onboarding of new CTE/institute teachers, team leads, and administrators to the institute model
  • Helps administrative team ensure ninth grade career kick off event and senior capstone projects are implemented according to District expectations
  • Completes all trainings and other compliance requirements as assigned and by the designated deadline
  • Will work with district leadership on implementation needs regarding program development focused on both school and district wide programming
  • Maintains appropriate licensure and acknowledges that continued employment with the Hamilton County Department of Education is contingent upon providing required documentation to validate licensure in a timely manner.
  • Implements district, state, and federal policies, regulations, and laws.
  • Participates in faculty meetings, professional development, educational conferences and other activities that promote professional growth and student achievement.
  • Works collaboratively with administrators, faculty, and staff.
  • Attends work and arrives to work on time.

  • Adheres to the Teacher Code of Ethics as defined by Tennessee Law.
  • Encourages learning, growth and achievement and demonstrates life-long learning of best practices.

  • Attends and participates in all required meetings.
  • Attends all summer professional learning sessions. Continues professional growth and strengthens professional teaching, knowledge, skills and strategies through an ongoing program of workshops, seminars, conferences and/or advance course work.
  • Must be able to work days past the regular school year (minimum 10 additional days).
  • Complies with accounting and financial policies and procedures involving the handling of money and property, as well as other Board policies.
  • Use computers and other technology to enter and access information related to essential job functions.
  • Performs general/clerical tasks, which may include answering telephone calls, typing documents, making copies, sending/receiving faxes, filing documentation, or processing incoming/outgoing mail.
  • May operate a motor vehicle to conduct various work activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions.
