About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Criminal Intelligence Analyst (Open Source Intelligence) to support the Boston Regional Intelligence Center’s (BRIC’s) counterterrorism mission. This role involves supporting law enforcement investigations and analyzing a broad range of priorities related to terrorism, violent extremism, and threats to life and property. The position requires strong analytical, writing, briefing, and communication skills, along with proficiency in data analysis tools and navigating the internet, including open-source and social media platforms. The analyst will operate under strict legal guidelines to protect privacy, civil rights, and civil liberties. The role demands a proactive work ethic and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED Minimum
  • Nine (9) years’ experience with a high school diploma / GED or four (4) years’ experience with a bachelor’s degree or two (2) years’ experience with a master’s degree
  • Must pass a background check, to include a drug test, with the Boston Police Department.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a national security clearance at the Top-Secret level.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a Top-secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong understanding of privacy, civil rights and civil liberties issues as they pertain to the intelligence cycle within local law enforcement and an intelligence fusion center environment
  • Analytic experience within a local, state, or federal law enforcement agency and/or state/major urban area fusion center
  • Subject matter expertise in matters pertaining to behavioral threat assessment, various international and domestic terrorism ideologies, and violent extremism
  • Experience writing intelligence assessments for intelligence community or law enforcement consumers
  • Understanding of the Nationwide Suspicious Activity Reporting Initiative
  • Experience performing tactical intelligence analysis in support of criminal investigations
  • Multilingual skills – especially, multilingual reading and writing proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing Internet/computer/cyber-based information sources and open-source platforms to identify threats to public safety and emerging risks to the Metro Boston region.
  • Developing real-time open-source intelligence from publicly available information sources by analyzing threatening materials/behaviors or information indicative of risks to public safety.
  • Providing actionable insights to contribute to the tactical and strategic operational needs of the BRIC.
  • Maintaining a keen understanding of computer/cyber-based criminal modus operandi, publicly available open-source media, internet technologies, and modern communication and social networking environments.
  • Adhering to a persistent analysis schedule.
  • Liaising with various units within the Boston Police Department and other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
  • Applying qualitative/quantitative analytical techniques to interpret findings.
  • Quickly learning informal communication methods, slang, or intentionally cryptic languages.
  • Dynamically adapting work responsibilities to a diverse array of priority information needs.
  • Working independently and remaining focused under pressure.
  • Reading and reacting quickly, accurately, and professionally within a fast-paced environment.
  • Staying current with the latest open-source analytic and investigative tradecraft, methodologies, technologies, and programs.
  • Supporting the BRIC’s use of open source/cyber analysis tools.
  • Developing innovative programming and analytical techniques to enhance open-source research and analysis.
  • Revealing and addressing deficiencies in open source/cyber analysis capabilities.
