The Product Specialist - Furniture role involves greeting customers, providing product information, selling merchandise and extended service plans, and maintaining product knowledge. The role also requires awareness of competition, assisting with inventories, maintaining store displays, and completing shopping reports.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or college or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • A minimum of three years prior experience in the retail industry, preferably in a customer contact area.
  • Ability to read English sufficiently to read invoices, repair orders, faxed requests and similar written materials.
  • Basic English language writing skills for completion of orders, requests and other necessary correspondence.
  • Fluency in spoken English for communication with customers.
  • Basic math skills, including multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division.
  • Occasionally the ability to grasp, lift or otherwise move goods weighing up to twenty-five pounds.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity in at least one hand to be able to operate all computer terminals and other electronic equipment and manually complete paperwork.
  • Minimum typing speed of at least 20 words per minute with no errors.

Responsibilities

  • Greet the general public and offer proper information about products and services.
  • Sell and explain the merchandise offered by BrandsMart USA.
  • Sell and explain extended service plans to the satisfaction of the customer.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of the products sold by BrandsMart USA.
  • Be aware of the competition, their policies, price levels, and assortment.
  • Complete shopping reports on specific competitors as required by store management.
  • Take physical inventories as required.
  • Clean and maintain the selling area or selling counter area.
  • Assist with changing, arranging, or straightening a selling display.
