About The Position

The Furniture Loader is responsible for safely, accurately, and efficiently loading finished upholstered furniture onto trailers for retailer/customer delivery. This position ensures products are staged, inspected, protected, and loaded according to shipping schedules, retailer/customer requirements, and established loading procedures. The Furniture Loader plays a key role in preventing product damage, maximizing trailer utilization, and supporting on-time customer deliveries while maintaining Jonathan Louis International quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 1–3 years of warehouse, shipping, furniture handling, logistics, or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience loading trailers, moving large products, or working in a distribution environment preferred.
  • Ability to read shipping documentation and follow loading instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to shipment accuracy and product quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing and shipping environment.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe material handling practices.
  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver upholstered furniture and related products within established weight guidelines, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, twist, stoop, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work inside trailers and warehouse environments with varying temperatures and limited climate control.
  • Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and work around forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and comply with all company safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately read and follow shipping schedules, load sheets, bills of lading, and loading instructions.
  • Load finished furniture into trailers according to established loading patterns and customer delivery requirements.
  • Inspect finished goods prior to loading to verify product identification, packaging integrity, and shipment accuracy.
  • Ensure all products are handled carefully to prevent damage during staging and loading.
  • Secure furniture within trailers using approved methods to minimize movement and prevent damage during transportation.
  • Verify that all required shipping labels, tags, and documentation match customer orders before loading.
  • Assist in staging finished goods in loading order to support efficient trailer loading.
  • Communicate shortages, damaged products, or shipping discrepancies to the Shipping Lead immediately.
  • Operate pallet jacks and other approved material handling equipment safely.
  • Assist forklift operators as needed during loading activities while maintaining safe work practices.
  • Maintain trailer cleanliness and inspect trailers before loading to ensure they are suitable for shipment.
  • Maximize trailer cube utilization while ensuring product protection and safe loading practices.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, material handling guidelines, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping area.
  • Work collaboratively with shipping, production, inventory, and transportation personnel to meet daily shipping objectives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support departmental and operational needs.
