About The Position

By the Yard, a family-owned manufacturer of maintenance-free outdoor furniture and accessories, is seeking an experienced or inexperienced craftsperson to join its building team in Jordan, Minnesota. The company manufactures furniture from recycled plastic lumber and emphasizes eco-conscious operations. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Furniture Builder builds and assembles furniture parts and boxes furniture as needed. This is a part-time position scheduled Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Compensation is $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience. Experienced candidates will have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in woodworking or cabinetry; the pay range accommodates candidates with varying levels of relevant experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or currently working toward one.
Experience using tools such as a drill and screw gun.
Ability to perform basic mathematical and measurement calculations.
Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
Excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work closely and efficiently with coworkers.
Regular attendance according to the management-approved work schedule.
Experienced candidates must have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience, preferably in woodworking or cabinetry.

Responsibilities

Produce and assemble or build furniture, cabinets, and parts for subassembly or final assembly to a high quality with minimal rework; box furniture as required.
Stock shelves as needed.
Complete paperwork and verify that orders are correct.
Send completed parts to the next department with carts arranged so they can be easily worked.
Follow housekeeping standards and all safety and work rules and regulations.
Recommend improved processes and methods to the Supervisor.
Operate a forklift if certified.
Work with other departments on various assignments as necessary.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
