About The Position
By the Yard, a family-owned manufacturer of maintenance-free outdoor furniture and accessories, is seeking an experienced or inexperienced craftsperson to join its building team in Jordan, Minnesota. The company makes furniture from recycled plastic lumber and emphasizes eco-conscious operations. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor, the Furniture Builder builds and assembles furniture parts and boxes furniture as needed. The role also involves supporting other departments and performing a variety of duties as part of a collaborative team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Compensation is $20.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on relevant experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience using tools such as a drill and screw gun.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical and measurement calculations.
- Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and demonstrated directions.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work closely and efficiently with coworkers.
- Regular attendance according to the management-approved work schedule.
- Experienced candidates must have at least two years of relevant manufacturing experience; woodworking or cabinetry experience is preferred.
- Ability to meet the described physical and mental requirements, including occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds and using a step stool.

Responsibilities
- Produce and assemble furniture, cabinets, and parts for subassembly or final assembly to a high quality standard with minimal rework; box furniture as required.
- Stock shelves as needed.
- Complete paperwork and verify orders are correct.
- Send completed parts to the next department so carts can be worked efficiently.
- Follow housekeeping standards and safety and work rules and regulations.
- Recommend improved processes and methods to the Supervisor.
- Operate a forklift if certified.
- Work with other departments on assignments as needed.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
