About The Position

Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is a significant peer-to-peer fundraising event in the United States, recognized for its growth and impact. As the Director, Walk to End Alzheimer’s, you will be instrumental in driving the success of a major walk event. This role involves leading a team of volunteer leaders, utilizing sales and relationship management skills to meet revenue goals through engagement with corporate and community volunteers. You will also focus on increasing brand awareness by cultivating relationships with key corporate and community partners. A key aspect of this position is recruiting, coaching, and empowering volunteers to ensure strong retention and succession planning for future event success. You will inspire volunteers, teams, and participants to achieve fundraising goals, aiming to make the event one of the most successful nationally. This specific Director position is responsible for the Louisville Walk to End Alzheimer’s and will join a collaborative team of development professionals within the Kentucky Chapter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of proven experience recruiting and mobilizing volunteers and community leaders to achieve goals, preferably in a peer-to-peer fundraising environment OR 5-7 years of successful experience meeting sales targets.
  • 1-3 years experience managing staff and/or volunteers.
  • Events management experience, preferably large-scale community engagement events.
  • Demonstrated management skills, including the ability to set clear goals, organize projects, establish and manage budgets, and establish accountability processes.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for identifying, recruiting, and engaging high-level and C-Suite volunteer leadership.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% within the Louisville metro area territory by car.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, a good driving record, and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends as required for the job.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift, and transport up to 25 lbs of materials.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with Google Suite, Microsoft Office products, and social media; experience with, or ability to rapidly learn Luminate/Convio software.

Responsibilities

  • Building sustainable corporate and community relationships that contribute to achieving organizational and revenue goals.
  • Driving success and providing positive engagement with volunteers through coaching, recognition, and accountability.
  • Providing inspirational leadership, oversight, and implementation of fundraising programs to meet or exceed revenue goals for mass market events/special events and corporate sponsorship.
  • Successfully recruiting, managing, and coaching volunteers to effectively implement best practices and achieve fundraising goals.
  • Building a positive, healthy, and inclusive team environment that results in long-term community and volunteer relationships.
  • Managing volunteer-led mass-market events, preferably large-scale, to achieve year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Achieving or surpassing designated financial and participant goals through team and individual fundraising, corporate solicitation, and community partnerships.
  • Prospecting, cultivating, and stewarding teams, sponsors, and participants.
  • Managing event budgets, training volunteers, utilizing timelines, and translating data.
