About The Position

A Fund Development Officer at Sunny Glen Children’s Home is an outgoing individual with strong people skills and knowledge of the business climate in the Rio Grande Valley. They will be tasked with meeting and speaking with individual donors, potential new donors, organizations, and businesses to increase financial support for the mission of Sunny Glen. Our goal is to provide a safe place for hurting children to heal while we tend to their physical, mental, and spiritual needs. To that end, a F.D.O. must have a strong familiarity and comfort with speaking to individuals, gatherings, large groups, and religious organizations about the needs of our children.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 4 Year College Diploma or 1 year of verified work experience in relevant field.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Knowledge of software; Claude AI systems, Microsoft Office, Canva Design, Asana Task Management, Google Business, Meta services, Zoom, and general web based systems.
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Have a record of tuberculosis screening showing the employee is free of contagious TB.
  • The employee must be able to make quick decisions, tolerate frustration and be able to always balance mental toughness with compassion.

  • Occasional travel both locally and statewide
  • Speak before groups
  • Working weekends is sometimes required
  • Build relationships with donors to benefit the mission of Sunny Glen
