About The Position

In support of the Mission and Mandate of CMHA-WECB, as part of a team led by the Director, Communications and Mental Health Promotion this position manages Fund Development activities and the volunteer program in the organization. Under the direction of the Manager and Director, manages agency special events, including the creation of event plans, budget management, marketing, liaison with vendors, sponsorship and prize solicitation, for events including but not limited to Go Green Golf Tournament, Suicide Awareness Month, and Light the Way.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of recent and relevant experience in a management or fund raising capacity in an agency, government department or institution responsible for the delivery of health, human or social service with an understanding of modern financial management systems is preferred.
  • Past experience training and coordinating volunteers is mandatory.
  • Fundraising knowledge and expertise, volunteer management expertise, mental health services, mental health and relevant legislation, employment standards, labour legislation, political environment and financial management, presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Graphic design skills (In Design etc.)
  • Computer literacy skills and working knowledge or various Microsoft Windows application is required.
  • A valid Ontario Driver’s License with access to a reliable vehicle and proof of current insurance and licensing are required for this position.
  • Candidacy for positions will require you to be authorized to work in Canada.
  • A satisfactory police vulnerable sector check is required as a condition of employment for all roles with CHMA-WECB.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Management, Marketing, Communications or related discipline is preferred or an equivalent combination of recent and relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • CFRE designation is an asset.
  • Experience in a unionized environment and bilingual in French will be considered assets.
  • Bilingualism in both official languages at the advanced level is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of Cases for Support for CMHA-WECB fundraising initiatives.
  • Actively participates in donor stewardship and major gift proposals and solicitation, including identification, proposal planning, solicitation and stewardship, and accurate recording keeping utilizing Raiser's Edge and Excel.
  • Oversees and coordinates the volunteer program of the agency including the following: Develops and maintains an annual Volunteer Management Plan outlining touchpoints throughout the year, including the annual offence declaration, National Volunteer Week, quarterly newsletters and other stewardship activities.
  • Interviewing volunteers and providing following up on orientation and training requirements Tracking the volunteer process in Excel tracking spreadsheet, and in Raiser's Edge.
  • Reporting duties related to the agency's volunteer program such as the agency's quarterly report and the Volunteer Management Scorecard
  • Coordinates Bingo volunteers and training.
  • Seeks out and evaluates external fundraising and grant proposals to determine their worthiness to the organization and brings such proposals and activities to the attention of the Manager.
  • Ensures all file management and reporting functions are maintained in a comprehensive and timely manner, utilizing identified Excel spreadsheets and Raiser's Edge software.
  • Serves as an ambassador of the organization to ensure that services are accessible, while promoting the agency and its programs.
  • Practices leadership by demonstrating continuous quality improvement, including monitoring, analyzing fundraising trends and developing and implementing changes.
  • Develop and schedules content for agency social media channels, including the development and editing of video content.
  • Updates content on the CMHA-WECB website.
  • Design and develop internal and external communications
  • Manages Third Party Events through the provision of the Third Party Event Guide, ensuring appropriate use of agency name/logo, provides assistance to Third Party event partners as requested, promotes events and ensures tax receipting guidelines are adhered to.
  • Community outreach with individuals, organizations and community partners to maintain and build relationships.
  • Inventory management of Client Assistance Fund and Comfort Closet.
  • Other duties as assigned and which are within the scope of the position and which further the objectives/goals of the organizations.
