About The Position

Sagard is seeking Fund Accounting or Finance Interns to join the Fund Finance team. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to the operational and analytical aspects of fund finance and accounting within a dynamic, multi-strategy investment platform. The internship is designed to give students meaningful experience in fund operations. This internship is open to current undergraduate or graduate students who are available to work full-time for 8 months from September to April.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in accounting, finance, business, or a related field
  • Strong academic record with demonstrated interest in fund finance, accounting, or investment management
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • For all positions in Québec, proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory. English is required due to regular interaction with colleagues and external partners outside Québec.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling is an asset
  • Prior experience (e.g., internship or co-op) in fund accounting, audit, or asset management is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assist with cash management and cash forecasting across multiple funds and investment vehicles
  • Support the preparation of Net Asset Values (NAVs), including the calculation of valuations, expenses, and investor allocations
  • Collaborate with investment teams to analyze fund data and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
  • Contribute to the development of reporting solutions for both Limited Partners (LPs) and internal stakeholders utilizing Foundry, a Palantir solution
  • Participate in fund performance tracking and support the preparation of management reports and investor deliverables
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in fund accounting operations
  • Gain exposure to the fund lifecycle, including capital calls, distributions, and financial statement preparation
  • Assist in the valuation process; modeling securities, finding comparables, monitoring industry benchmarks of various asset classes as part of the firm’s fund valuations
