Functional Medicine Provider
About The Position
Functional Medicine of Idaho was founded in 2018 with the mission to provide a better way of practicing medicine, focusing on identifying the root causes of health issues rather than just managing symptoms. We believe in a comprehensive approach that integrates primary, functional, and specialty care under one roof, allowing providers ample time with patients to track progress, adjust treatment plans, and ask questions until patients feel better. Our practice is composed of dedicated providers, nurses, nutritionists, and health coaches who are passionate about delivering advanced, personalized care. We utilize precision testing that goes beyond basic labs and foster a collaborative environment where providers work within an integrated team.
Requirements
- Two or more years of clinical experience, preferably in primary care, internal medicine, or an outpatient setting.
- Active Idaho license as an MD, DO, NP, or PA, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Prescriptive authority in Idaho, or eligibility to obtain it.
- Degree from an accredited institution.
- Genuine interest in functional and integrative medicine.
- Comfort working inside a multidisciplinary team alongside nurses, nutritionists, health coaches, students, and caregivers.
Nice To Haves
- Newer providers with functional medicine training are encouraged to apply.
- Experience managing complex chronic conditions such as autoimmunity, metabolic disease, gut health, or hormone dysfunction.
- Certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine, or coursework in progress.
- Prior experience practicing functional or integrative medicine.
- Comfort speaking to groups, as we host community talks and workshops.
- Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer literacy.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive adult care that addresses root causes rather than managing symptoms — full histories, advanced diagnostics, and personalized treatment plans across chronic and complex presentations.
- Partner with nurses, nutritionists, health coaches, and mental health clinicians so every plan is supported well beyond the exam room.
- Grow a patient panel with active support from our marketing, referral, and front office teams, including help building internal and external referral relationships.
- Bring ideas to your site's Functional Medicine Medical Director on patient flow, documentation, diagnostic testing, and therapeutic options.
- Join FMI-hosted talks, workshops, and culture events that introduce you to the community and grow your practice.
