About The Position

Alan is building the new standard in prevention insurance, integrating insurance, prevention, and care into a single user experience. The Engineering team builds the infrastructure, interfaces, and applications to provide first-class service to members, health professionals, and internal teams. This role is part of the Hopper crew, which is developing Alan's internal agentic AI platform and AI companion for all Alaners. Hopper aims to be a unified productivity tool for coding, data, automation, research, and everyday work, with a focus on making AI agents trustworthy and capable of handling meaningful tasks. The platform includes features for product experience, agent runtime and orchestration, secure connectors, skills, automations, artifacts, and trust and review mechanisms. The focus for 2026 is to enhance durability, safety, and inspection capabilities of AI agents, moving from 'AI tools you monitor' to 'AI agents you trust'.

Requirements

  • 3+ years in full-stack software engineering roles.
  • Experience building products, internal platforms, frameworks, or infrastructure used by other people.
  • Depth in at least one relevant area: AI agents and evaluations, developer platforms, high-quality product UX, distributed systems and runtimes, or security and authorization.
  • Ability to own work end to end, from a React interaction or API contract to reliability in production.
  • Fluent in English.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with LLM APIs, agent harnesses, MCP, or AI-assisted coding tools is a strong plus.
  • You think in terms of both product and platform experience: Alaners across engineering, product, data, sales, and operations are your customers.

  • Develop reusable components for agent orchestration, isolated execution, skills, connectors, permissions, audit, and evaluations.
  • Enhance the product experience for AI sessions across web, Slack, Linear, and GitHub.
  • Develop and maintain the agent runtime and orchestration, including control plane, harness, model routing, long-running execution, recovery, and isolated sandboxes.
  • Build secure connectors managed by an MCP Gateway for identity, credentials, permissions, sensitivity, and audit.
  • Create reusable skills, automations, and artifacts, including scheduled or event-driven work, dashboards, and hosted tools.
  • Develop trust and review mechanisms, including evaluations and product experiences that expose tests, screenshots, previews, queries, sources, and tool actions.
  • Contribute to making AI agents faster, more durable, and capable of safe access to company tools and data.
  • Ensure HDS-compatible infrastructure for sensitive workloads.
  • Strengthen AI agent evaluations and results inspection.
  • Scale Hopper and its supporting infrastructure, including managed agent pools, sandboxed environments, autonomous testing, and CI auto-fix.
