About The Position

Behaviour Interactive is a leading video game development studio headquartered in Montreal, with a global presence and over 1200 passionate employees. The company focuses on two core business areas: Services, collaborating with major industry players like Disney and Nintendo, and Original Games, creating signature IPs such as Dead by Daylight. Behaviour Interactive fosters a diverse and inclusive environment, valuing individuals of all backgrounds. They are seeking a full-stack programmer to join the Core Technologies (Core Tech) team, responsible for developing a wide range of initiatives including in-game features, out-of-game applications, and both backend and frontend services. The role involves contributing to strategic goals under the guidance of senior teammates, requiring a foundation in both frontend and backend web technologies and a desire for skill development. Knowledge of C++ and game development is considered a plus.

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience as a full-stack developer.
  • Comfortable working across the entire stack: frontend and backend, features and bugs, high-level and low-level code.
  • Experience with databases, including familiarity with non-relational (NoSQL) database technologies like DynamoDB.
  • A collaborative, solution-oriented attitude and a drive to learn.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the gaming industry.
  • Experience in C++ or game development.
  • Knowledge of relational databases like MySQL.
  • Exposure to NodeJS, Typescript, web frameworks (React), and AWS services.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to backend and frontend features, working on new systems and refactoring existing ones to create fast, secure, and scalable features for millions of daily active users.
  • Investigate and resolve bugs of varying complexity, from simple fixes to hard-to-reproduce critical issues.
  • Help optimize performance and memory by profiling features, detecting bottlenecks, and implementing optimizations.
  • Write unit tests, functional tests, and load tests to ensure the robustness and quality of developed features.
  • Collaborate with fellow programmers, tech leads, and managers within the Core Tech team, as well as programmers and developers from other disciplines on game production or publishing teams.
