About The Position

The John Cooper School is an independent, non-sectarian, co-educational, college preparatory day school located in The Woodlands, TX. The School's mission is to provide a challenging education in a caring environment to a diverse group of select students, enabling them to become critical and creative thinkers, effective communicators, responsible citizens and leaders, and lifelong learners. The Ful-Time Substitute Teacher requires a dedicated individual to provide instructional support and ensure continuity of learning in the absence of the regular teacher. The Full-Time Substitute Teacher will be responsible for managing classroom activities, delivering lesson plans, and maintaining a productive learning environment across multiple subjects for assigned division.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in education, preferred
• School teaching experience, preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to respond and follow through on assignments/responsibilities in a timely manner
• Ability to communicate and facilitate effectively

Responsibilities

• Follow and implement lesson plans left by the regular classroom teacher, adapting as necessary to meet the needs of students.
• Maintain a positive, respectful, and safe classroom environment conducive to student learning.
• Manage student behavior and ensure that classroom policies and school rules are followed.
• Provide clear instructions and assist students with completing assignments.
• Collaborate with faculty and staff to maintain consistency in instructional delivery.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and other non-classroom settings as needed.
• Perform other duties as requested/assigned by the School.
