About The Position
SANY’s Syracuse Academy of Science Charter Elementary School is hiring a Building Substitute Teacher for Grades K-4 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The school offers a supportive environment for both new and experienced teachers. The role involves assisting with instruction, working with small groups, providing intervention, participating in weekly meetings and school-wide events, implementing classroom policies, managing student behavior, and leading students to and from specials/lunch. The school emphasizes professional development with coaches and mentors, and integrates technology like SMARTboards, IPADs, and Chromebooks.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education

- Comfortable with the use of data and analytics to help drive instruction and promote learning
Nice To Haves

- Prior teaching experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparation and instruction
- Work closely with small groups of students and provide intervention
- Actively participate in weekly meetings and attend all school-wide events

- Effectively manage student behavior
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
