Full-Stack UI Engineer (AI Platforms) NC - Hybrid

Cisco•Research Triangle Park, NC
•$115,800 - $163,200•Hybrid

About The Position

As a UI Developer on Cisco’s Circuit team, you will build modern web experiences that bring AI capabilities to Cisco employees. Circuit is the central AI engine powering productivity and process automation for Cisco, serving more than 80,000 monthly users. You will develop front-end experiences for AI-driven workflows—including conversational and agentic interfaces, streaming responses, prompt and agent management, and data-rich dashboards—using Angular and Node.js and deploying on Google Cloud Platform. You will work closely with UX and UI designers throughout the product lifecycle, joining feasibility discussions early, participating in design reviews, and refining interfaces as development reveals edge cases. You will implement accessible, responsive, polished interfaces informed by accessibility practices, user research, usability testing, and end-user feedback. You will use shared components and design tokens to keep interfaces consistent, theme-aware, and maintainable, and build interaction patterns that help users understand and recover from the behavior of AI systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6+ years, master's degree and 4+ years, or PhD and 1+ year of related experience in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing web applications with Angular v10 or later, including debugging and troubleshooting front-end issues.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Hands-on experience building server-side or full-stack functionality with Node.js.
  • Experience integrating REST APIs and working with JSON data structures.
  • Experience with UI design systems and component-based architectures, including translating Figma designs and designer-delivered specifications into functional UI.
  • Experience deploying and running applications on Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficiency with Git and Agile methodologies.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience contributing to or extending a shared component library aligned to a design system.
  • Experience participating in cross-functional design reviews, reviewing prototypes, identifying technical constraints early, and iterating on UI during development.
  • Experience building human-AI interaction UIs, such as streaming responses, chat or agent interfaces, prompt or workflow management, and error handling for unpredictable AI output.
  • Experience supporting end-user testing by fixing severity-triaged usability and accessibility issues before release.
  • Ability to work from high-fidelity design specifications and in-progress prototypes, and clarify open questions with designers before writing production code.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with UX and UI designers from early feasibility discussions through implementation and release; contribute to design reviews, identify technical constraints, and help scope work.
  • Build interfaces with a shared component library and design tokens, extending existing patterns and maintaining consistency, theming, and maintainability.
  • Implement WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility patterns for dynamic AI interfaces, including ARIA live regions, semantic conversation structures, focus management, keyboard support, and color contrast in light and dark modes.
  • Apply usability research and end-user feedback during development, and raise design gaps and edge cases before they become production issues.
  • Build human-AI interaction patterns, including streaming and token-by-token rendering, loading and error states, and recovery flows for failed or unpredictable responses.
  • Design and build front-end experiences for AI-driven workflows, including conversational and agentic UIs, prompt and agent management, and data-rich dashboards.
  • Build and deploy web applications using Angular, Node.js, and Google Cloud Platform.
