Full Stack Software Engineer (US Based Remote)
About The Position
Torus is seeking an experienced Full Stack Software Engineer to build and evolve the Torus platform. The role involves designing, developing, and delivering scalable systems for hardware-software integration, customer-facing applications, and internal tools. The engineer will contribute to full-stack architecture and implementation across front-end experiences and backend services, participating in the software lifecycle from ideation through production. The role works closely with Product, Design, Firmware, Data Science, and other engineering teams to deliver solutions in the renewable energy space. The engineer will own complex features, contribute to system design, and collaborate across disciplines, with opportunities to expand technical scope and impact. The position is remote within the United States, with occasional onsite work in Salt Lake City and surrounding area locations. Availability during MST business hours is required.
Requirements
- Strong experience in full-stack development with TypeScript.
- Proficiency with modern front-end frameworks such as React, Next.js/Tanstack Start, and Tailwind.
- Experience building backend services and APIs using Node.js or similar.
- Experience with AWS cloud services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, IoT Core, ECS/Fargate, and CDK or similar.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, API design, and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Experience implementing responsive, accessible, cross-browser-compatible interfaces.
- Experience implementing comprehensive testing strategies and CI/CD pipelines for continuous delivery.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Copilot or ChatGPT.
- Typically 5–8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Proven track record delivering production-quality software in complex environments.
- Experience owning features or systems from design through deployment and support.
- Ability to break down complex problems and deliver effective solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to balance technical excellence with business needs.
- Ownership mindset and responsibility for delivering outcomes.
- Must already have legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
- Must be available during MST business hours.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable full-stack applications using modern technologies.
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data models for customer-facing and internal systems.
- Develop responsive, performant front-end interfaces.
- Contribute to system design and architecture discussions, making thoughtful tradeoffs.
- Participate in the software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
- Implement cloud-native solutions using AWS services.
- Develop RESTful APIs, event-driven services, and integrations supporting hardware-software coordination.
- Design and implement reliable, secure, and scalable systems.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality, including code generation, debugging, and documentation.
- Partner with Product and Design to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Collaborate with firmware, IoT, and data teams on integrated system functionality.
- Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Contribute to shared component libraries and promote consistency across applications.
