About The Position

The Full Stack Software Engineer will join Anduril’s Tactical Recon and Strike (TRS) Core Infrastructure team, which builds the infrastructure used to field TRS products including Altius, Ghost, Bolt, and Anvil. The team provides a foundation for deploying TRS autonomy and integrating it into an accessible product. The role’s software supports customer needs and contributes directly to product delivery. The engineer will build backend services used in product manufacturing and deployment, help shape software architecture, configuration processes, and user workflows, and work with engineering and customer stakeholders to demonstrate capabilities and incorporate feedback. The work spans frontend frameworks, backend technologies, and software lifecycle tooling. It also involves collaboration across disciplines, with software tested through simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience working with a variety of programming languages, such as Python, Rust, C++, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Experience working with customers to deliver novel software capabilities.
  • Interest in building tools that technicians, engineers, and operators use to prepare Altius for real-world missions.
  • Experience building user interfaces with popular frontend frameworks such as React or PySide.
  • Passion for user experience and creating streamlined products.
  • Ability to find solutions to complex problems involving multiple first- and third-party technologies, including areas such as simulation, data management, compute infrastructure, and networking.
  • Enjoyment of collaboration with team members and partners in the autonomy domain.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Built or invented something, such as an app, website, game, or startup.
  • Previous experience in an engineering setting, such as a startup or startup-like environment, or engineering school.
  • Professional software development lifecycle experience using tools such as version control and CI/CD systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of computers and networks, from a single desktop to a multi-cluster cloud node, including UDP, TCP, gRPC, and REST.
  • Experience creating infrastructure for robots or other complex embedded devices.
  • Experience building scalable backend software systems with varied data storage and processing requirements.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, CI/CD tools, and software infrastructure fundamentals such as networking, security, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established codebases.
  • Experience with modern build and deployment tooling such as CircleCI, Docker, NixOS, or Terraform.
  • Experience designing complex software systems and iterating on designs through technical design reviews.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard monitoring, logging, and data management tools and practices.
  • Bias toward rapid delivery and iteration.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and release backend services used during manufacturing and deployment of Anduril products.
  • Help define foundational software architectures, configuration processes, and user experience workflows.
  • Work directly with chief engineers, program managers, flight test engineers, and end-user customers to demonstrate capabilities and iterate on feedback.
  • Develop with frontend technologies such as TypeScript, React, and PySide; backend technologies such as Golang, Python, and Rust; and lifecycle technologies such as NixOS, CircleCI, and Docker.
  • Interface with engineers working across system components, from low-level Linux drivers to autonomy and user interfaces.
  • Test and evaluate software using simulations, benchtop hardware, and live flight assets.
  • Collaborate with autonomy-domain team members and partners to build technologies and processes that enable safe, rapid development and deployment of autonomous systems at scale.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers and are considered part of total compensation.
  • Anduril offers a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees, intended to support health and recovery.
