Crisis Text Line is hiring a mid-level, backend-leaning Full Stack Software Engineer for its Conversational Application Team. Engineering, Product, and Design work together to build a trusted, innovative, human-centered Crisis Care Platform that supports people in moments of need and enables global partners to deliver crisis support at scale. The engineer will design, build, test, deploy, and operate core platform features, taking ownership of assigned work after onboarding with support available from technical leads, architects, and teammates. The role focuses primarily on backend systems, with contributions across the stack as needed. Work includes implementing approved technical designs; developing APIs and data models; working with relational databases and caching; and supporting queues, schedulers, and other asynchronous processes. The engineer will also help address technical debt, improve production reliability, and strengthen practices and tools for safe software delivery. The technology environment includes PHP with Symfony, Golang, Node.js, React, Redux, REST and GraphQL APIs, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, AWS, Terraform, Datadog, Grafana, and automated CI/CD pipelines. The position participates in shared production reliability ownership and an on-call rotation. This is a remote-only position for employees whose primary residence and regular home work location are in an approved U.S. hiring state. A stable high-speed internet connection is required. The full salary range across U.S. geographies is $99,704 to $116,990; starting salary varies by location, qualifications, and prior experience.
