About The Position

Preferred Risk Insurance Services is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Developer who combines strong Java and/or C#/.NET engineering fundamentals with an AI-first development mindset. The role involves developing and supporting modern web applications, APIs, services, internal tools, and cloud-based solutions using Java, C#/.NET, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL Server, and Microsoft Azure. AI-assisted development is a standard part of the software development lifecycle in this role. The developer will use AI for analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and review; build AI-powered developer tools and workflows; and evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and architectural consistency. The position also includes technical leadership, mentoring, collaboration with business and delivery stakeholders, and work across multiple projects and priorities.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated experience operating at a Senior Developer level.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent education and professional experience.
Strong professional software development experience with Java.
Experience with C# and modern .NET/ASP.NET Core.
Experience with modern Java development environments and tooling, including IntelliJ IDEA and JDK distributions such as Amazon Corretto.
Strong understanding of object-oriented development, dependency injection, asynchronous programming, API design, design patterns, and modern application architecture.
Strong experience developing REST-based APIs and web services.
Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, or other cloud-based application development.
Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database design.
Experience with Git, GitHub, and/or Azure DevOps and collaborative source-control practices.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other developers.
Experience working on multiple projects or business initiatives simultaneously.
Technical qualifications include Java, C#/.NET/ASP.NET Core, React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, Java/JDK, Amazon Corretto, IntelliJ IDEA, Visual Studio 2022 or later, Visual Studio Code, Microsoft Azure services, AI-assisted development platforms and LLM APIs, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL, REST, JSON, Postman, OpenAPI/Swagger, Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, microservices, distributed systems, cloud architecture, and integration architecture.

Nice To Haves

Experience with PostgreSQL, Aurora, or MySQL.
Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as Claude/Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT/OpenAI, Cursor, or comparable tools; LLM APIs, AI agents, prompt/context engineering, and development automation.
Experience with JetBrains Rider or comparable modern development environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and support modern web applications, APIs, services, and internal development tools.
Develop applications using Java, C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, Bootstrap, SQL Server, and Azure technologies.
Use AI-assisted development throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, coding, refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, and code review.
Design and build AI-powered developer tools, agents, utilities, and reusable workflows to automate repetitive engineering tasks and improve developer productivity.
Review AI-generated code for correctness, security, maintainability, performance, and architectural consistency.
Identify opportunities for AI and automation to reduce development time, improve quality, accelerate testing, or simplify business processes.
Design and develop REST APIs, microservices, integrations, Azure Functions, and other service-based components.
Design scalable solutions using Microsoft Azure services, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure SQL Database, Storage, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
Troubleshoot complex application, integration, database, and production issues and use modern development and AI tools to accelerate root-cause analysis and resolution.
Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, product owners, QA, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Create appropriate unit, integration, API, and automated tests for developed solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior and intermediate developers.
Participate in code reviews and promote standards for architecture, maintainability, security, testing, and performance.
Work effectively across multiple projects and business priorities simultaneously.
