About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking an experienced Edifecs Application Engineer to administer, configure, troubleshoot, and enhance the Edifecs platform for a Veterans Affairs (VA) department. The role supports reliable, compliant Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction processing and involves configuring and maintaining XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder, and related modules; building and optimizing processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows; and diagnosing mapping, validation, functional, and performance issues. The engineer also manages logging, JVM tuning, and certificate and keystore configurations, and supports deployments, environment refreshes, patching, and upgrades. The position collaborates with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps Engineers, cloud teams, and business teams. This is a 100% U.S.-based remote, full-time W-2 position requiring U.S. citizenship and possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a Public Trust (MBI). Candidates from California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. The stated salary range is $85,389–$116,975. The position requires at least eight years of experience in EDI, healthcare, or enterprise application operations and at least eight years in software or data engineering with strong AWS experience. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is requested; equivalent practical experience is considered. EDIFECS certification is listed under professional certifications. Deep hands-on EDIFECS experience with healthcare EDI transactions, HIPAA cloud compliance knowledge, and healthcare payer/PBM, clearinghouse, or pharmacy operations experience are desired; AWS certification is a bonus.
