About The Position

The Full Stack AI Engineer is a full-stack development role responsible for building, maintaining, and evolving PowerX’s internal technology products, digital platforms, and AI-driven initiatives. This includes the internal employee portal and dashboards, mobile application development, AI and automation projects, company websites, and internal business tools such as forms, workflows, and system integrations. This role works directly with the VP of Information Technology and the Head of AI Strategy, serving as a key technical contributor to PowerX’s growing development roadmap and AI vision. We are looking for someone who brings fresh, proven AI skills to the team — someone who has built and shipped AI-integrated systems across multiple tech stacks and who is excited to help define what that looks like at PowerX. The Project Developer brings both technical depth and strong communication skills, collaborating cross-functionally with IT, Marketing, HR, Operations, and Workforce Development to deliver polished, production-quality software and intelligent solutions that drive PowerX’s growth and operational excellence. This is an AI-native engineering role. The working patterns below apply across everything you build, whether or not any individual project is framed as "an AI project." Agentic tools at every stage. You use agentic coding environments (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent) throughout your entire workflow: writing specs, generating code, writing tests, conducting reviews, and building evals. Your job is directing, validating, and making the final call at each step. Specifications before code. You work with AI to write clear specifications (goals, acceptance criteria, constraints, reference examples) before implementation begins. Code review as a continuous feedback loop. You build systematic review workflows using AI agents, not ad hoc spot checks. You iterate with AI to improve quality with each pass, and apply direct human oversight to authentication, data validation, and anything touching sensitive data. Evals before you ship. You work with AI to define what "good" looks like, build the evaluation framework, and catch regressions before users do. Delegate the work, not the accountability. Most of the code will be AI-generated, not written by you directly. However, you own and take responsibility for every line of it.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of professional software development experience, with a portfolio of delivered applications, integrations, or AI-driven solutions across multiple tech stacks.
  • Proficiency in front-end development using modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js, and back-end development using Node.js, Python, .NET, or equivalent.
  • Solid, hands-on experience with AWS and its development toolset, including but not limited to IAM (identity and access management, roles, and policy authoring), CodeDeploy, CodePipeline, CodeBuild, Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, API Gateway, and Elastic Beanstalk; familiarity with Azure or GCP is a plus but AWS proficiency is required.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design, third-party API integrations, and data interchange formats (JSON, XML).
  • Daily working experience with agentic coding environments such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or equivalent, used as a regular part of your development workflow (not occasional experimentation). Comfortable writing specifications for AI agents, managing context windows, and reviewing AI-generated code.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping AI-integrated applications to production users, including LLM integrations and at least one of the following: agentic workflows, tool use, or structured output. Familiarity with AI platforms such as Anthropic, OpenAI, or equivalent is required.
  • Proven, hands-on experience building and managing AI-integrated applications and workflows; must be able to demonstrate specific AI projects delivered, tools used, and business outcomes achieved — familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and platforms such as OpenAI, Azure AI, LangChain, or equivalent is required.
  • Experience with relational and/or non-relational databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or equivalent) and writing efficient queries.
  • Familiarity with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical and AI concepts clearly for non-technical stakeholders, including senior leadership; able to gather requirements from business users and articulate trade-offs and recommendations with confidence.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mobile development (React Native, Flutter, Swift, or Kotlin).
  • Experience with agentic AI frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, or multi-model orchestration pipelines.
  • Experience building reusable skills or tools for AI agents (for example, Claude Code skills, MCP servers, or equivalent agent tooling) that other members of a team can use.
  • Experience with CMS platforms (WordPress, Contentful, or similar) and web development for marketing and brand sites.
  • Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier, or similar tools.
  • Experience with project tracking tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, ClickUp, or similar) and Agile or Scrum development methodologies.
  • AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, development, testing, and maintenance of the PowerX internal employee portal and operational dashboards; build responsive, scalable front-end interfaces and supporting back-end services that give employees and managers real-time visibility into HR, payroll, scheduling, and business data.
  • Lead mobile application development for PowerX platforms; architect, build, and maintain iOS and/or Android applications that serve internal workforce and operational needs, ensuring performance, security, and a high-quality user experience across all supported devices.
  • Partner with the Marketing team to develop and maintain company websites and digital properties; implement design updates, content management system (CMS) customizations, SEO improvements, and web features that support PowerX’s brand presence and external-facing digital experience.
  • Serve as a primary technical contributor to PowerX’s AI initiative roadmap in close partnership with the VP of IT and Head of AI Strategy; design, build, and manage AI and automation projects across multiple tech stacks — including LLM integrations, intelligent workflow automation, predictive tooling, and AI-enhanced internal applications — translating the organization’s AI vision into production-ready, scalable solutions.
  • Build and maintain internal business forms, approval workflows, and process automation tools that streamline operations across HR, Finance, IT, and Operations; leverage platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, SharePoint, or custom development to reduce manual effort and enforce consistent business processes.
  • Design, build, and maintain integrations between internal applications and third-party platforms including ERP, HR, payroll, and workforce management systems; develop and manage APIs, webhooks, and data pipelines that enable seamless data flow and process automation across the PowerX technology stack.
  • Write clean, well-documented, maintainable code following established development standards; conduct or participate in code reviews, maintain version control discipline using Git, and contribute to a development culture that emphasizes quality, testability, and long-term supportability of all internal systems.
  • Implement and uphold security best practices in all development work, including secure coding standards, input validation, authentication and authorization controls, data protection, and responsible AI development practices; work with the Systems & Integration Manager and Head of AI Strategy to ensure all applications, integrations, and AI systems meet PowerX security, compliance, and data privacy requirements.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) from requirements gathering through deployment and ongoing maintenance; manage project timelines, communicate progress and risks to the VP of IT, and coordinate with business stakeholders to ensure delivered solutions meet functional and technical requirements.
  • Stay current on the rapidly evolving AI landscape, including new models, frameworks, APIs, and integration patterns; bring informed, opinionated recommendations to the VP of IT and Head of AI Strategy on how emerging AI capabilities can be applied to advance PowerX’s business objectives and internal platform quality.
  • Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization’s goals and adapt to evolving business needs.
