About The Position

The Fuel Yard Technician at the Nacogdoches Generating Facility plays a key role in ensuring the efficient and compliant handling of biomass fuel at the plant. This position involves operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting fuel handling equipment, as well as supporting environmental compliance and plant maintenance activities. It offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the reliability of renewable energy generation through both routine operations and critical outage support.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with the ability to perform hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Proven experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment in an industrial environment.
  • Background in solid-fuel handling operations and maintenance, including equipment such as rolling stock, conveyors, scales, and truck unloaders.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing conditions.
  • Team-oriented mindset with a commitment to collaboration and mutual support.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tasks independently and maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; exhibits initiative, professionalism, and a dedication to safety, continuous improvement, and working with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.
  • All employees are expected to remain mentally alert and work safely at all times.
  • Employees must also adhere to all safety warnings and posted signs while on company property.
  • Required to follow all NAES safety rules and procedures.
  • All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain all equipment associated with biomass fuel handling, including conveyors, stackers, reclaimers, and chippers.
  • Monitor environmental compliance related to fuel handling operations, including visible emissions, fugitive dust, and stormwater controls.
  • Conduct real-time assessments of fuel handling systems, promptly identifying and correcting equipment issues.
  • Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical and electrical components to ensure reliable fuel yard operations.
  • Receive incoming biomass fuel deliveries and conduct required sampling and testing to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
  • Perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance tasks on fuel yard equipment, including troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Support plant outages and maintenance activities, including assisting with instrumentation and controls (I&C) work as needed.
  • Fulfill other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of plant operations.
