About The Position

The Fuel Systems Aircraft Mechanic – C-130J is responsible for performing advanced inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of aircraft systems on the C-130J Super Hercules, with a specialty focus in fuel systems maintenance and fuel cell operations. The mechanic supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, ensures full compliance with technical data and safety requirements, and contributes to aircraft readiness in a high-tempo operational or depot environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to utilize respirator, forced air, or other breathing equipment during the performance of assigned duties.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces for extended periods and tolerate fuel vapors.
  • Strong understanding of HAZMAT, environmental, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering drawings, technical documentation, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate information to others.
  • Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to Yulista goals.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • 5+ years of aircraft maintenance experience, with direct hands-on experience on C-130J fuel systems.
  • Demonstrated proficiency across at least two additional C-130J aircraft systems.
  • Formal military or OEM aircraft maintenance training (e.g., USAF AFSC 2A6X4/2A6X5/2A3X3 or equivalent).
  • Confined space/fuel tank entry qualified (or able to obtain).
  • Ability to interpret and work from aircraft technical data.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Depot, ISO, or heavy maintenance experience on C-130J aircraft preferred.
  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification preferred.
  • Experience with corrosion control, structural repairs, or modification programs.
  • Familiarity with digital maintenance tracking systems such as IMDS, GO81, or equivalent.
  • Deep working knowledge of C-130J systems architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair all C-130J fuel system components including tanks, pumps, valves, probes, vent systems, manifolds, and quantity indicating systems.
  • Perform confined-space fuel tank entry, leak detection, bladder inspection, sealant removal/application, and corrective repair actions.
  • Execute defuel/refuel operations, contamination control, leak checks, system functional tests, and system preservation tasks.
  • Comply with all applicable technical orders (TO 1C-130J-2-28 series) and established fuel system safety protocols.
  • Perform intermediate- or depot-level maintenance across multiple additional C-130J systems, such as: Hydraulic Systems, Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Flight Controls, Landing Gear, and Electrical/Avionics (organizational level).
  • Interpret and apply maintenance manuals, technical orders, wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering instructions.
  • Accurately document work performed using AFTO 781 series forms, IMDS/GO81, or contractor systems.
  • Conduct operational checks and system functions following maintenance actions.
  • Support aircraft launch, recovery, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior maintainers.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance, Engineering, Production Control, and other specialties to resolve complex discrepancies.
  • Maintain compliance with confined-space requirements, PPE, Lockout/Tagout procedures, FOD prevention, and HAZMAT handling.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Communicate issues to management.
