The team will augment services provided by Air Force military personnel to modify, maintain, inspect, control corrosion, overhaul, repair, regenerate and store various weapon systems, related components, missiles, engines, ground support equipment and vehicles. This role provides direct labor support for aircraft egress systems and requires an advanced level of knowledge, skill, and ability in the field. The position involves meeting specific egress requirements outlined in AFI 21-102 and AFMCI21-100, chapters 12. Specialty egress training and certification for at least one of the following aircraft is required prior to performing on this Task Order: A-10 and F-16. The role may also require just-in-time (JIT) training from the Government for other aircraft MDS egress system removal and installation as needed. Functions include removal/installation of canopy, seat/seat support, and Cartridge Actuated Device (CAD), cockpit CAD removal, De-CAD aircraft cockpit, and fire extinguisher cartridge removal. The mechanic will also remove fire extinguisher cartridges from other MDS as needed, and remove, document, and transport components using Government special explosive vehicles as directed in the WCD. Additionally, the role may involve assisting with limited towing operations and other general aircraft maintenance tasks that do not require specialized training. Other duties may be assigned.
