About The Position

Under supervision, performs work related to fuel island repair and maintenance for Fleet Fuel Islands. Exercises independence of action in executing work during night and/or day hours, and with no supervision in some cases. With limited supervision and hands-on training, performs skilled work in the repair and maintenance of all City-owned fuel islands. Employee must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel. Subject to after-hours and weekend call-backs.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of one year of Fuel Island Maintenance experience or Auto Mechanics experience.
  • Fuel Island Attendant must supply their own set of tools.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods, and tools used in the mechanic trade related equipment found in a complete repair facility.
  • Ability to tow a trailer-mounted power washer, and to operate power washer to steam clean fuel islands.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions, including repair procedures as found in manufacturers manuals.
  • Ability to work well with other employees.
  • Ability to complete simple records.
  • Ability to do simple mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to operate all vehicles serviced.
  • Knowledge and ability to operate computer, tablet, and other related devices for data entry.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate small office equipment, including copy machines.
  • No Police Record, except minor traffic violations.
  • Must possess a valid Class C Driver's License.
  • Must possess basic hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • A Class A CDL with Haz-mat is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Keeps records on all fuel island repairs and maintenance.
  • Issues and records fuel and oil tickets.
  • Records daily fuel inventory.
  • Receives fuel deliveries.
  • Makes minor repairs and reports major repairs needed, defective parts, or operation issues on equipment serviced, to his/her supervisor.
  • Operates a mobile service unit.
  • Sweeps and cleans garage, removes snow.
  • Must be able to operate all vehicles serviced.
  • Trains to repair and maintenance fuel island equipment. Repair and maintenance could include the replacement of breakaway couplings, nozzles, filters, power washing island, cleaning debris, cleaning spill buckets, spill containment, and other related duties.
  • Fills Fleet fuel truck and fuel pods for mobile deliveries.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
