About The Position

Gehl Foods is a fast-growing food and beverage manufacturer, known for ready-to-serve products like nacho cheese and protein shakes—no refrigeration needed! This role is responsible for reviewing, verifying, and approving food safety and quality records across all manufacturing processes, including batching, processing, filling, packaging, and sanitation. The FSQ Positive Release Reviewer will also review laboratory records, coordinate electronic record storage, oversee the lab test schedule, and maintain plant release logs. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring finished goods are released in accordance with established procedures and supports the FSQ Manager and Supervisor in maintaining quality KPIs and investigating deviations and customer complaints.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum High School degree and a balance between college studies and professional experience in food and beverage manufacturing.
  • Knowledge and experience of food or beverage testing and laboratory operations.
  • Knowledge and experience in microbiological testing / commercial sterility testing of aseptic food or beverages.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated people leadership, coaching and team building experience.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational and organizational needs; ability to lead others through change
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously, while maintaining a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to enforce Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture that is respectful and accepting diversity.
  • Knowledge of FSMA and FDA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and approve food safety and quality records across all manufacturing processes including batching, processing, filling, packaging, and sanitation
  • Review, verify, and approve laboratory records including analytical product testing, package integrity, and microbiological testing records
  • Coordinate and maintain electronic record storage for each production lot
  • Oversee lab test schedule
  • Maintain plant release log documenting completion of record approval for each step in manufacturing process, including any investigations, COA’s, and finished goods release
  • Execute finished goods release in plant ERP system in accordance with established procedures
  • Coordinate correction of any record deviations with operations leadership, including maintaining plant record deviation log, and KPI tracking
  • Coordinate finished product on time release KPI’s
  • Support the FSQ Manager and FSQ Supervisor in maintaining Quality Events in plant ERP system
  • Support the FSQ Manager and FSQ Supervisor in maintaining key quality KPI’s for plant review
  • Provide contributions towards root cause analysis and customer complaint investigations, including record review and transaction history in plant ERP system
  • Provide contributions towards the creation of any new food safety and quality records required by any new customer, process, or regulation
  • Effectively and efficiently communicate with external customers, as required
  • Participate in 3rd party audits and support from a record reviewer standpoint
  • Other duties, as assigned by management
