About The Position

This department is dedicated to supporting Motorola Solutions, a large customer in the North Carolina Area. We provide break fix, 24-hour on-call support, preventive maintenance, administrative support, and third-party support. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing CCTV cabling infrastructure, including coaxial, CAT5e/6, and fiber, often routed through challenging environments. It also includes terminating, labeling, and testing various types of cabling, installing and maintaining rack-mounted equipment, performing routine health checks of field equipment, and installing peripheral electronics. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and participation in meetings and training sessions are also key aspects of the position.

Requirements

  • A valid driver's license
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in a field technician or technical support role in one of the following fields: Low Voltage Security (IP Video Surveillance, CCTV Systems, IP Based Access Control.), Low Voltage or Data Network Cabling and Infrastructure, Network Device Management or Installations
  • Must be willing to travel to multiple states via company provided vehicle.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years experience in one of the following: LMR, RF Systems, Wired/Wireless Communication Systems, Networking Equipment or IT
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely is required.
  • Employer work permit sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong preference for previous technical experience and working knowledge of Avigilon Products.
  • Experience installing, supporting and maintaining the following products is a plus: Avigilon cameras Lantronix and Cisco network switches Dell servers and desktops APC or Eaton UPS battery backups

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair CCTV cabling infrastructure, including coaxial, CAT5e/6, and fiber, often routed through underground pathways, walls, ceiling trays, in-ground vaults and pull boxes, tech poles, fixed base and direct-buried poles, and other confined environments or challenging structures.
  • Terminate, label, and test voice, video, security, and data cabling; remove and dispose of outdated or abandoned cables.
  • Install or relocate camera drops, wall outlets, patch panels, power injectors, and various media converters.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair work in and around outdoor modular and freestanding NEMA enclosures to ensure secure, weather-resistant housing for CCTV and related electronic equipment.
  • Install and maintain rack-mounted equipment including switches, patch panels, and cable management systems; conduct regular cleaning and preventative maintenance of network closets, data rooms, MDF/IDFs, etc.
  • Regularly communicate repair progress, priorities, and emerging issues to internal remote technical teams to maintain alignment and awareness of remote support requirements.
  • Escalate critical service issues as needed, ensuring continuous updates to the broader Service team on high-priority incidents that exceed standard resolution timelines.
  • Perform routine health checks and visual diagnostics of field equipment (cameras, encoders, field switches, media converters, etc.), identifying and reporting issues related to connectivity, performance, and functionality.
  • Install peripheral electronics such as monitors and displays, battery backups (UPS), PoE midspans, wireless access points, corporate and ruggedized network switches, racks, cabinets and various enclosures.
  • Assist remote technical resources with the onboarding of net-new and replacement devices, e.g., verifying VMS connectivity and point-and-aiming cameras for optimal field of view (FOV) coverage.
  • Transport and assemble wall and floor-mounted racks and cabinets; rack-and-stack various types of equipment, ranging from server, network and NVR appliances to patch panels, shelving and UPS systems.
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of camera types in both indoor and outdoor environments, including fixed-lens, pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ), multi-lens, thermal, license plate recognition (LPR), explosion-resistant, and long-range or wide-area coverage solutions.
  • Regularly utilize ladders of various sizes to install, service, or repair CCTV cameras and related equipment mounted at elevated heights; operate man lifts where ladder access is impractical or poses safety concerns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineers, field technicians, project managers and various technical groups to address complex issues and ensure smooth integration of video surveillance systems into larger IT infrastructures.
  • Attend standups, technical project engagements and other team meetings.
  • Participate in training sessions surrounding new technologies, industry best practices and organizational compliance requirements.
