About The Position

Skydio is hiring a Frontend Software Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 to help develop Remote Flight Deck (RFD), its browser-based piloting experience. The RFD Platform team builds the browser platform used by remote pilots, including live video, telemetry, maps, and flight controls. The intern will ship production features in collaboration with engineers, designers, and product managers, with opportunities to work beyond the frontend when a feature requires it. The work supports public safety, critical infrastructure, and enterprise customers using autonomous drones.

Requirements

Solid software engineering foundation and commitment to writing clean, well-architected code.
Junior, senior, or MS-level student with meaningful project or internship experience developing modern web applications that connect to backend APIs and data systems.
Experience in modern web development, such as React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and WebGL/Three.js.
Experience building and maintaining scalable APIs, services, and integrations for handling large datasets.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with robotics software development concepts.
Obtaining FAA Part 107 certification within the first 60 days of employment is strongly encouraged for all Skydio employees and required for certain positions.

Responsibilities

Design and implement pilot-facing features that help operators make faster, safer decisions while flying.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, engineers, and support to deliver high-quality, impactful features to customers.
Build and ship production features for the Remote Flight Deck browser platform.
Potential projects include extending the multi-cockpit view, implementing camera controls such as click-to-focus, adding map layers such as live flight-path breadcrumbs, and rendering augmented-reality bounds around vehicle subject tracks with controls for following a vehicle.
Contribute technical skill, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset to Skydio’s autonomous drone products.
